Falsies Vs Lash Extensions for your wedding day

I often get asked by Brides to be, what is the best thing to do in terms of fake eyelashes. Should I use falsies or get extensions? My response is always, “Have you tried either of those things before?”

When it comes to putting anything around our eyes, especially foreign objects like false eyelashes, I am always super cautious and take into consideration my clients comfort levels. If you have never tried any sort of false eyelash before, I always recommend having a trial first because you definitely don’t want to be experimenting on your wedding day!

False lashes can feel heavy and weird to begin with and it an take a little bit of time getting used to them. Some brides don’t mind a bit of discomfort and will often forget about the lashes within a few minutes, whereas other brides cannot stand them and we need to take them off immediately!

If you are prone to sensitive eyes or just know you will feel uncomfortable all day then just don’t have them. You may have heard other bridal makeup artists say that you HAVE to have fake eyelashes on your wedding day to complete the look, but I say, it’s your day and you need to feel the most comfortable to be able to enjoy your wedding day, without worrying about those annoying things in your eyes.

False lashes aren’t the be-all end-all for your bridal makeup look. It’s your wedding day, and you get to decide what makes you feel amazing!

A few points to consider when deciding whether you want Falsies or Lash extensions for your wedding day are:

  • You want your eyes to pop but like the idea of being able to take the lashes off at the end of the day

  • If you are having multiple wedding events, do you want to be able to change up your lash look, or don’t mind having one lash look?

  • How careful are you with your eyes? Falsies can be easily fixed or replaced, whereas if you start losing your lash extensions, you will have gaps.

  • For lash extensions to last, they require daily maintenance such as special cleaning, and if you are a big makeup wearer, you technically shouldn’t be using any waterproof makeup with lash extensions, as the makeup remover will then weaken the glue, and you risk losing your lashes.

At the end of the day, you need to feel your best. If you can’t decide and have never tried either option, definitely have a makeup trial to start with and go and see a lash technician so you can play around to see what might work best for you on your wedding day.
