It takes how long to get ready!?
As the old saying goes, “good things take time” and that’s exactly the case when it comes to your bridal hair and makeup.
Brides will often be surprised, even shocked when they hear how early we may need to start the wedding day hair and makeup process. On average, each bridal party member will need 1 1/2 hours for their hair and makeup, so the more bridesmaids you have, the longer you are going to need… simple girl math!
"But if we start so early, won’t it all be gone by the end of the night?”
Nope, the reason the hair and makeup process takes so long is because it is all designed to last. Along with a mini touch-up kit and some helpful tips, you can go about your wedding day without having to worry about what your hair or makeup might be doing.
The 2 golden rules to having your wedding day hair and makeup last…
Don’t touch your hair and don’t touch your face!
As the bride, you won’t be required to start first anyway, unless you are planning to go away and have some photos first. With the hair and makeup process, if both services have been booked, I usually start with the makeup application, starting with a bridesmaid or mother of the bride, and then the bride will have her makeup and hair done somewhere in the middle. Not too early that she’s worried about ruining anything, and not too late that she feels like she needs to rush out the door, remember putting on that wedding dress will also take much longer than your average dress and you definitely don’t want to feel flustered!
Whether you’re a party of one or a party of five, everyone will receive a fabulous hair and makeup application that will take you from day to night.
So what should everyone else do in the meantime? well apart from taking in the vibes and enjoying the day, if there are little last minute wedding day things to be done, now is the time to really delegate and have bridesmaids or mum, anyone that’s not getting their hair and makeup done to fiinish the jobs. Then once your makeup is done, ideally you don’e want to be rushing around doing things that will compromise the longevity of your hairstyle and makeup application….this includes steaming dresses!
